Campo Mártires Basketball Court

Campo Mártires Basketball Court - Basketball Courts in Lisbon
Campo Mártires Basketball Court

Rated 3.8 on Google

  • Location: Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, Lisbon.
  • Description: This basketball court features a vibrant mosaic design, set in a bustling park, and offers a lively atmosphere. However, its beauty belies a lack of practicality; the ground is dirty and slippery, and the blurred lines and tight baseline space pose safety concerns. While there are soccer goals available, their lines are not marked.
  • Amenities and Facilities: A nearby water fountain and spotlights for night play are available, though the lighting is somewhat insufficient.
  • Accessibility: Conveniently located with easy access via the Intendente Metro and nearby e-scooter parking.
  • My Experience: The community is warm and inviting, often encouraging spontaneous participation in games. However, the lack of nets and the court’s slippery nature can hamper the experience. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the rims lack chains.

Campo de Basquetebol do Moinho do Penedo (Recommended)

Rated 4.7 on Google

  • Location: Moinho do Penedo, Lisboa, Portugal
  • Description: Located on a mountain within a large park, Campo de Basquetebol do Moinho do Penedo offers stunning views of Lisbon, creating a unique basketball experience. The scenic surroundings contribute to its reputation as one of the most picturesque basketball spots in the city.
  • Amenities and Facilities: The facility includes three small basketball courts with six hoops in total. The courts lack a 3-point line, the hoops are firm without shock absorption, and the playing surface is concrete. There is no surrounding fence, which can result in the ball rolling down the mountain.
  • Accessibility: Due to its mountainous location, the court is highly exposed to sunlight and offers minimal shade, increasing the risk of sunburn. Evening play around 17:00 is recommended for cooler conditions. Weekends attract numerous basketball players, making it possible to engage in 4 on 4 games due to the smaller court size.
  • My Experience: Campo de Basquetebol do Moinho do Penedo provides a memorable backdrop for a game of basketball, though the playing conditions and court quality are not optimal, particularly on windy days. For a better playing experience, courts like Laranjeiras may offer more satisfactory conditions. The potential for full-sized courts and a secure playing area here remains untapped.

Public Basketball Court Alcântara – Porto De Lisboa

Rated 4.3 on Google

  • Location: Porto De Lisboa, Lisbon.
  • Description: Porto De Lisboa’s basketball court is a vibrant and artistic space, previously a host to basketball tournaments, now transformed with nautical flag artwork reflecting its waterside location and international community.
  • Amenities and Facilities: The court offers two hoops enclosed by a cage, alongside a ping pong table and a punching bag, catering to a variety of recreational activities.
  • Accessibility: Conveniently located with nearby e-scooter parking, Alcantara-Mar metro station, and the LX Factory for additional entertainment options.
  • My Experience: The basketball court at Porto De Lisboa is an excellent spot for pick-up games, boasting well-maintained facilities and a cool breeze from the sea, despite the potential interference of strong winds. The backboards could see some improvement, but the court’s unique setting and energetic atmosphere make it a noteworthy place for a game. However, players should be prepared for a lack of shade.

Rated 4.5 on Google

  • Location: R. Olavo d’ Eça Leal 2, 1600-306 Lisboa, Portugal Lisboa, Portugal.
  • Description: This outdoor basketball spot is celebrated for its family-friendly atmosphere and orderly setup, making it a favorite among basketball enthusiasts.
  • Amenities and Facilities: The facility comprises two non-regulation sized courts, equipped with a total of four baskets. Despite being well-maintained, players should note the absence of lighting for nighttime games and the lack of restroom facilities on-site, with the nearest option being the cafes nearby. Additionally, the playing surface may become somewhat slippery.
  • Accessibility: The basketball courts are conveniently situated and accessible, Metro Altos dos Moinhos, Laranjeiras and Telheiras are nearby.
  • My Experience: Given the great atmosphere and well-kept condition of the courts, this location comes highly recommended for basketball lovers. Players can enjoy a good game in a smaller setup, ideal for 4v4 matches. One of the courts typically offers shade, providing some relief on sunny days. However, the lack of amenities like water sources and the smaller field size are points to consider when planning a visit.
